You might be wondering how a petite Italian electric vehicle could draw inspiration from Los Angeles while donning a somewhat bland color — isn’t LA renowned for its sunny coasts and palm trees? The 500e’s fresh shade is named Marine Layer Mist, inspired by a distinct type of weather phenomenon that Southern California is also recognized for.
To dive into some meteorological discussion, a marine layer builds up when a cold air mass above the ocean converges with warm air over the land. This leads to mild temperatures and overcast skies, occasionally leading to fog that typically dissipates by early afternoon. Fiat has crafted a paint color with a silvery, blue-ish tint that harmonizes well with the sky’s appearance.
Distinctive attributes unique to the Inspired By Los Angeles edition encompass black window trims, matte gray mirror covers, a dashboard matching the body color, a seven-speaker JBL sound system, and 17-inch diamond-cut rims paired with either summer or all-season tires. Furthermore, an array of driver-assist technologies has been included. Similar to other 500e models, it is equipped with a 42-kWh battery pack providing a range of 149 miles.
However, all these luxuries come at a cost. The Fiat 500e Inspired By Los Angeles will kick off at $37,595, inclusive of destination fees.
