Every time I spot a Pontiac Fiero, I am reminded of a local DJ from my youth. He was quite tall and stocky for that small red car, yet when he got behind the wheel of his ten-year-old two-seater, he looked perfect. I also had a huge crush on him back then. However, the Fiero currently available on Cars & Bids is not likely to inspire the same feelings of nostalgia, as it resembles a Lamborghini Countach.
This 1984 Fiero, upgraded with a conversion kit from UK-based Countach replica expert Prova Designs, is more than just a striking imitation. The original engine has been swapped for a Chevy-derived 5.7-liter V8, and it now features a Porsche Type 901 5-speed manual transmission. While a genuine Lamborghini V12 would likely overpower this compact sports car, driving a vehicle half the size that achieves comparable performance still promises plenty of fun.
Additional modifications include 15-inch wheels styled after the Countach, custom seating, VDO gauges, an Alpine head unit, and bespoke leather upholstery. The air conditioning functions well, and it boasts the trademark scissor doors. Its red exterior paired with a beige interior is an ideal color combination, whether one considers it a Fiero or a Countach. With all the doors open and the headlights raised, the car resembles a life-sized die-cast model.
The vehicle has a solid service history but does show some gaps in its records. Fortunately, there are no accidents listed. An inspection from Lemon Squad has highlighted some service and maintenance requirements, such as a carburetor tune-up, alignment, corrosion on exhaust components, and potential evidence of an oil leak. Being a 40-year-old vehicle, it does show signs of normal wear and tear, including some cosmetic defects.
One significant concern is that the odometer has been replaced, leaving the original mileage undocumented. The current odometer reads a low 1,600 miles, but this comes with a "True Mileage Unknown" status.
Registered in the South since 2003, this Pontiac Countach comes with a clean title.
