Aston Martin Sees Rising Trend of Female Buyers in Luxury Sports Car Market

Ownership of exotic sports cars has traditionally been dominated by men, but Aston Martin is witnessing a notable shift toward female buyers. In an interview with Australia’s CarAdvice, Simon Sproule, vice president of Aston Martin, highlighted the growing interest and ownership among women, particularly in the key market of China.

Sproule stated, “We can confirm that we are now seeing more women as the primary owners and drivers of our vehicles. In certain markets, there has been an extraordinary increase in female customers.”

Despite the road tax system in China, which discourages the purchase of high-displacement engines like the Aston V12, 50% of the DB11s sold in the country last year went to female buyers. “For the V12 coupe in China last year, we saw that 50—five zero—percent of sales were to women. This is unprecedented for our brand in any market,” Sproule remarked. He added that China’s taxation structure favors V8 engines over V12s, making the V8 the more popular choice.

In contrast, fewer than 10 percent of Ferrari buyers in the region identified as women, according to CarAdvice. The brand’s growing appeal among female buyers may be linked to its endorsements by notable figures such as Daniel Craig and Tom Brady.

Aston Martin has been contacted for further comments, and updates will follow if a response is received.
