Since almost the beginning of the world wide web’s existence—or at least since its emergence as a public utility—individuals have endeavored to vend goods through it. Apart from the roof over one’s head, a vehicle represents one of the priciest possessions that many are likely to transact in their lifetime. (Frankly, considering my recent forays into the real estate market, an automobile might just surpass housing costs one day. It would be delightful to cease renting at some point.) All of this brings about the following inquiry: Which pre-owned car advertisement has amused you the most?

Having spent a considerable duration on the internet, recollecting all the memorable ads has become quite arduous for me. For the sake of this blog, I will highlight the iconic 1999 Toyota Corolla “Fine AF” Craigslist advertisement which I’m certain many of you in the audience have already encountered. It’s rather concise, so if you happened to miss it earlier, I recommend reading the entire excerpt, as it contains numerous notable lines. Personally, the line “Interesting facts: This car’s exterior color is gray, but its interior color is grey” takes the cake for me.

Sometimes, there lies potency in succinctness as well. We recently featured a 1997 Panoz AIV Roadster available for purchase on this website via Facebook Marketplace (it’s still seeking a new owner, by the way!) and there was something about the phrase “please research on the internet” in the listing heading that truly tickled me. I adore the notion of someone acquiring an almost three-decade-old, American sports car with nearly 200 units produced, and yet, opting to eschew exploring the vehicle in any manner. It probably occurs, but the concept of living so impulsively is astounding, especially as someone who delved into 18 cumulative hours of research while buying a new bed a few years ago.

In any case, an assortment of responses to this question exists, and I am eager to peruse them all. Let’s have them: What is the most amusing pre-owned car ad you’ve stumbled upon?
