In the wake of the recent introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, which still holds its own in relevance, is often overlooked. This SUV is powered by the same robust 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine seen in the Dodge Challenger and Charger Scat Packs, delivering a formidable 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. This power is transmitted to all four wheels through an eight-speed transmission, making it a strong contender in the SUV market.

Historically recognized as the fastest SUV available, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds while comfortably transporting the entire family, whether to the beach or any destination. Instead of merely showcasing the SRT’s speed in isolation, Jeep UK decided to compare it with a classic Hemi-powered hot rod in a recent video. According to Jeep UK, this hot rod produces 304 horsepower and has a 0-60 mph time of approximately 6.0 seconds. While the Grand Cherokee SRT is expected to outperform the hot rod, the visual comparison serves to highlight the SRT’s impressive performance.

In the video, UK drag racing champion Stuart Doignie takes the wheel of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, while drag specialist Kelbin Dunn drives the hot rod. As the light turns green, Doignie engages the SRT’s launch control, propelling both vehicles off the line. The SRT quickly gains the advantage with its all-wheel drive and superior horsepower, while the hot rod maintains a respectable pace but ultimately falls behind. When the vehicles cross the finish line, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT clocks in at 13.3 seconds with a speed of 103 mph, while the hot rod finishes at 14.2 seconds and 95 mph..
