Volkswagen has announced the recall of almost 225,000 vehicles equipped with faulty tire pressure sensor software that may fail to alert owners in case of rapid pressure loss in all four tires. According to documents submitted to federal safety authorities, VW has confirmed no injuries linked to this issue and stated that incidents of sensor failures are extremely rare.

(Meanwhile, many of us in colder regions of the U.S. have experienced the challenges of freezing mornings and the inconvenience of refilling tires at gas stations at dawn.)

The recall impacts models such as the 2019 VW Tiguan; 2019-2021 VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport; 2019-2020 VW Golf including Golf R, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI, and Golf Sportwagen; 2019 Audi Q3; and 2019-2020 Audi A3.

The repair will be conducted at authorized dealerships where Volkswagen will update the tire-sensor software to alert drivers in case of rapid pressure loss in all four tires. The automaker plans to notify affected owners by the year’s end to schedule repairs at dealerships.
