We knew it was coming. We knew it would be revealed in Q1 2024. We knew that it was going to look awesome and go like it had been shot out of a railgun. We knew that the McLaren Artura was going to have a drop-top brother.

What we didn’t know, however, was the price or the power. That’s all changed today, as McLaren has revealed everything about their latest supercar.

While there will be an upcoming post about all the nitty gritty details, let’s just hit the main points, shall we?

The power is from a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 combined with the “Axial Flux E-Motor” performance hybrid system. In the Artura coupe, that is good for a combined 680 PS (670 HP). However, for the Spider, McLaren decided that needed a boost to a nice even 700 PS (690 HP) .

That added grunt propels the Artura Spider to 60 MPH 0.1 seconds faster than the Coupe, at 3.0 seconds dead-on. It will pass 124 MPH in 8.4 seconds, and will decimate 186 MPH in 21.6 seconds. All of this while headed to its (roof up) top speed of 205 MPH.

Part of that is also through the completely revised 8-speed dual clutch transmission. McLaren have recalibrated it, and also upped pre-load power so that when you pull a paddle, shifts happen 25% faster than in the coupe, making them almost Formula One level fast.

However, the biggest point of owning a Spider variant of any supercar is the endless headroom you get. From covered to open sky happens in just 11 seconds, while cruising at at any speed under 31 MPH.

Of course, all of this power, tech, speed, and performance comes at a cost. It has been announced at £221,500 for the UK, which roughly converts to $281,000 for the US market.

That is $43,500 more than the standard Artura Coupe, but for 700 HP and open sky above you? Worth it, we think! Look for a full breakdown of the car’s features and performance over the next few days here on Supercars!
