The dynamic CEO of Dodge, Tim Kuniskis, known for his passion for muscle cars and pyrotechnics, has been appointed as the new CEO of Ram Trucks. He will continue to lead Dodge while taking the helm at Ram Trucks, announced Stellantis on Wednesday. Former Ram CEO, Mike Koval, is transitioning to Mopar as the new North American head in a significant corporate reshuffle.

Kuniskis is a prominent CEO in the industry, particularly among car enthusiasts. His recent involvement in projects like the Challenger Demon 170 and Charger Daytona EV Concept has kept Dodge in the spotlight as the focus shifts from traditional combustion engines to electric power. Stellantis views Kuniskis’ deep knowledge of the North American market as vital for the future of its dedicated pickup and utility vehicle brand.

Koval has overseen several major projects recently, including the development of the Ram 1500 Revolution Concept, as well as the ongoing work on the production model of the Ram 1500 REV. It will be interesting to see the direction Kuniskis takes the truck brand, especially as it has been cautious about transitioning to full electrification.

While executive changes may not always resonate with the general public, this move is significant for those interested in the future of truck development. Ram has been content to let other automakers like Ford and General Motors lead the electric pickup market. Ram’s advertising approach has even humorously touched on the topic of “premature electrification.” Kuniskis’ affinity for gasoline engines and his stance on EVs align well with the overall direction set by Stellantis’ leadership, showing openness to new powertrain technologies.

While major product changes may not be immediate, this development is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
