For this McLaren Artura hybrid, the journey has been fraught with challenges from the start. Initially slated for a late 2021 release, delays pushed its debut to 2022. Surprisingly, as of mid-2022, Arturas had yet to reach customers. However, a 2023 Artura has somehow found its way to a salvage yard at Copart, clearly a victim of unfortunate circumstances.

Having covered 2,043 miles on the odometer, this Artura was evidently well-traveled, particularly considering that these miles were likely accumulated in late 2022. The mileage figure might hint that this vehicle wasn’t solely a customer’s daily driver but possibly part of McLaren’s internal fleet. We have reached out to McLaren for clarification and will provide updates accordingly.

Regrettably, there is hardly anything salvageable about this Artura, so there’s little hope of YouTubers acquiring it at a bargain to restore. The Copart listing’s “Primary Damage” section succinctly states “ALL OVER,” providing a clear indication of the extent of the damage. Specifically, it is missing its front bumper, front fenders, rear driver’s side quarter panel, and the car’s rear end has sustained substantial damage. Moreover, it now possesses a salvage Pennsylvania title.

Interestingly, the car’s interior remains completely intact and appears pristine. Despite the evident involvement in a serious collision, none of the airbags deployed, and there are no signs of broken glass. Such conditions are unusual for a vehicle missing significant portions from both ends.

Like all McLarens, the Artura features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, ensuring a light curb weight and robust crash protection. However, once damaged, repairs are limited. Additionally, being a hybrid—with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 and an electric motor generating 671 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, alongside a battery pack—costs for replacements are significantly high if damage occurs.

It’s disheartening to witness an Artura in such a dire condition. The promising hybrid supercar had barely begun its journey and is now on its way to the automotive afterlife.
