There seems to be a trend among thieves targeting taillights and tailgates from modern Ford trucks, particularly the F-150s and Super Duty models. These thefts have gained attention over the past few years, especially in Texas, as criminals see monetary value in these parts. Numerous local news investigations and social media discussions have highlighted this issue, yet the thefts persist. To combat this problem, Omaha Bravo Designs has created a kit designed to secure these components to your truck.

The kit is referred to as the AllGuard Kit, and it is scheduled for shipment at the end of November. This kit includes hardware for the taillights, tailgate, and even the hood for 2017-2022 Super Duty models. The starting price is $150 for a raw finish and $180 for a textured black coating.

Considering the expensive replacement parts, the AllGuard Kit is a cost-effective solution. A quick visit to the official Ford parts website reveals that taillights for the 2017-2022 Super Duty models can cost between $530 each for basic lamps and $2,711 each for high-end LED units. Additionally, a bare Super Duty tailgate without any hardware or trim costs around $2,200. Hence, investing a one-time fee of $150 could save you upwards of $7,000—what a steal!

It’s unclear whether the surge in parts thefts or the exorbitant prices came first, but it does seem like a direct correlation. The current prices on Ford’s parts site exceed the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices due to high demand and limited supply.

The AllGuard Kit employs several straightforward methods to deter theft. For example, it conceals the Torx bolt heads that secure the taillights tightly, complicating any attempts to remove them quickly. The installation also includes security fasteners for the cover plate. Regarding the tailgate, it blocks access to the Torx bolts that remain exposed, which is an issue even with the tailgate locked. Although it may not be termed a design flaw, the large latch holes on the Super Duty’s tailgate can allow thieves to pry them open if not protected by a system like this.

Omaha Bravo Designs also offers individual components from the AllGuard Kit if you’re primarily concerned about your hood ($35), tailgate ($65), or taillights ($95). Purchasing the complete bundle at a discounted price seems like a smart choice, especially for those with high-end trucks who want to avoid spending more on replacement parts after a theft.
