While the advertisements for Half Scale Cars’ miniature Mercedes 722 race car and petite Cobra specify that each car accommodates only one child beneath the age of seven (dependent on height), Top Gear managed to fit an adult Stig in a regular racing suit inside their 917K. This gives me hope that at some point, someone may take out one of the larger Half Scale Cars as a fun paddock vehicle left for joyrides.
Each order is customized, offering various paint colors, classic liveries, and for the exclusive Harrods Jaguar E-Types, more than 50 hues of Swarovski crystals for exterior decoration. Crafting a Swarovski-laden E-Type takes the Half Scale Cars team two months, and each vehicle ends up adorned with over 100,000 crystals on the outside.
Various drivetrain options are available, from traditional pedal power for cautious parents, to gasoline and electric-driven selections. Customers can choose interior and carpet colors, and even select stitching patterns for the leather interior. On the Porsche 911, you have the choice of acquiring one with or without the Targa bar. The roof on Top Gear’s Porsche 917K tester was fully detachable. Everything is tailor-made.
You can find the 917K equipped with a 350cc Yamaha engine, rack-and-pinion steering, disc brakes, detachable steering wheel, and a fiberglass body according to Half Scale Cars’ website. It also includes a horn and a fan as reported by Top Gear. Its maximum speed is approximately 28 mph.
For adults, the Ferrari 330 LM and Ford GT are available, featuring a 150cc four-stroke engine capable of reaching 35 mph with the option of a carbon-fiber body. Surprisingly, these are scale model cars.
The Mercedes and Cobra from the brand are designed for younger kids and are less powerful. The Cobra comes with a 140-watt electric motor reaching 6.5 mph or a 45cc two-stroke engine achieving 25 mph. The two-seater Porsche 911 offers a 195-watt electric motor and a 55cc two-stroke engine, capable of a top speed of 30 mph. If concerned about safety, speed limiters can be installed on these models.
Take a look at Half Scale Cars’ gallery of previous builds and restorations, where you might discover hidden gems like a miniature Porsche 936. Their full collection of remarkable cars can be explored here, but be forewarned, you might end up wanting to bedazzle your next Barbie Jeep racer.
