In January, Porsche introduced the Vision 357—an innovative concept with 493 horsepower inspired by the automaker’s inaugural vehicle, the 356. Created to honor 75 years of the brand, Porsche now has another reason to celebrate. They’ve crafted a new 357 model to commemorate 30 years of Goodwood—this time, presenting a stylish open-roof speedster.

The Vision 357 Speedster, visually akin to its coupe counterpart, is based on the 718 GT4 e-Performance platform. However, in terms of powertrain, it differs significantly from its hardtop sibling. While the original 357 concept is propelled by a six-cylinder Cayman GT4 RS engine, the Speedster is entirely electric, utilizing components from its Mission R electric motorsports prototype. Although undoubtedly speedy, Porsche has not disclosed specific power output or battery capacity details.

The design focus is primary in this case as it’s a concept vehicle. In contrast to the coupe’s sleek roofline, the speedster features a single carbon fiber roll hoop mounted on the rear deck to enhance driver safety. This is positioned behind a raked windshield sans upper bezel. With a fabric tonneau cover over the passenger seat, Porsche pays homage to an era that inspired the concept. Many speedster concepts from other automakers similarly incorporate a tonneau cover and one or two roll hoops.

The paint scheme draws historical influences from previous Porsches. The Miami Blue front splash serves the purpose of concealing rock chips from track use. The numerous 75 decals across the car are a direct nod to the brand’s heritage. Completing the retro-futuristic appearance are magnesium wheels with carbon fiber center caps.

The vehicle is currently showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Porsche has not indicated any plans to produce either this speedster version or its coupe sibling.
