Do you recall the electric Ram Revolution Concept unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January? The one featuring a midgate and third-row jumpseats? The official name for the subsequent production model has now been revealed—meet the Ram 1500 REV, which closely aligns with our previous assumptions.

During the 2023 Chicago Auto Show presentation on Thursday, Ram confirmed this development. Quite a concise name, I must say. Unlike Ford’s decision to brand its electric F-150 as the Lightning, which may not sit well with diehard internal combustion engine enthusiasts. Where’s the V8, huh? What about the supercharger?!

Although the actual Ram 1500 REV production model has yet to be unveiled, the manufacturer assures us that it will be introduced “in the next few months.” Further details are expected to be disclosed on February 12th, per Ram’s announcement. While the exact full reveal date remains uncertain, Ram has indicated that production will commence next year, coinciding with the arrival of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV.

Upon release, the Ram 1500 REV is expected to be exclusively electric. Additionally, a variant featuring an internal combustion range extender is in the pipeline, offering flexibility for customers. In any case, Ram is committed to delivering a truck that excels in range, charging speed, payload capacity, and maximum towing capability.

In response to a query from The Drive about whether the concept’s most intriguing features—particularly the third-row jumpseats—will materialize in the production version, Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. stated: “You’ll soon witness how much influence this concept had on the final production battery-electric vehicle. A concept vehicle allows for dreaming. It gives you the freedom to include features that may or may not transition to production.”

In any case, one thing is certain—we now know the name.
