California-based tuner Evasive Motorsports has created the S2000R, a modification of the Honda S2000 that incorporates a new Type R engine along with significant weight reduction using carbon and titanium components. This project imagines the concept of an S2000 Type R and enhances it with chassis reinforcements and the distinctive white-on-white design cues of the Type R.

In an unexpected turn of events, the S2000 is now old enough to receive such modern restomod treatments, causing an existential micro-crisis for enthusiasts.

The S2000R undergoes a major transformation under the hood, replacing the original high-revving naturally-aspirated engine with a modern 306 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine from the Civic Type R.

Performance upgrades include a carbon fiber air intake, intake manifold, exhaust components, and a titanium dual exhaust system. The engine is managed by a Motec M140 ECU and display, while cooling is enhanced with components from Mugen and Koyo Racing.

Despite the engine swap, the S2000R retains its iconic six-speed manual transmission with the addition of an adapter plate and an OS Giken limited-slip differential for power delivery to the rear wheels.

Enhancing the handling dynamics, the S2000R is equipped with custom KW Clubsport coilover suspension, upgraded bushings, chassis brace, bump steer kit, camber joints, Eibach sway bars, and Brembo brakes for improved stopping power.

Visual enhancements include a distinct front bumper, widened fenders, rear wing, carbon fiber components, 18-inch EVS Tuning wheels, Yokohama AD09 tires, Spoon wing mirrors, and interior features such as Recaro seats, Alcantara-covered dashboard, and door cards.

While the modifications are impressive, purists may question if the turbocharged Civic engine diminishes the iconic high-revving character of the S2000. Pricing details for the S2000R have yet to be disclosed, but Evasive Motorsports offers conversion services for existing S2000 owners.

A racing variant named the S2000RS is scheduled to participate in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this year.
