The era of Group B rallying was undeniably the most legendary, with the Audi Quattro S1 reigning supreme as the most powerful car of its time. Throughout the 1980s, this iconic vehicle went through various evolutions, solidifying Audi as a brand revered by enthusiasts. Despite its massive popularity, only four of these rally legends are privately owned, and one of them is about to be put up for sale.

Mark your calendars for November 5th, when RM Sothebys will present a 1985 Audi Quattro S1 E2, bearing the chassis number RE10, for auction. The E2 variant stands as the ultimate iteration of this vehicle, the one that has undoubtedly captivated audiences with its flame-spitting theatrics and iconic roars, popularized through online videos. Adorned with its iconic rally lights and Audi Sport livery, it’s sure to command a hefty price tag.

After its glory days on the rally circuits, this car has changed hands multiple times, each owner taking care to drive and maintain it. It has undergone a complete restoration, now featuring modern conveniences such as a glass windshield and a non-ratcheting fly-off handbrake.

Its five-cylinder engine is still churning out approximately 550 horsepower. Power is distributed to all four wheels, naturally, enabling swift acceleration to 100 mph in just 8.9 seconds.

Out of the 20 S1 E2 Quattros ever manufactured, only 15 are accounted for. Among those 15, merely four are privately owned, as mentioned earlier. This presents a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire a truly exceptional vehicle. Previously, S1 Quattros have been sold for up to 2 million euros. The bidding on this one is anticipated to soar beyond that figure.
