Back in 1970, precisely on June 17th, the original Range Rover made its entrance, establishing itself as an iconic vehicle due to its robust off-road capabilities. It marked a milestone as the pioneer SUV featuring a permanent 4WD system, and including ABS and traction control long before they became standard. To highlight the remarkable 50-year journey of this iconic truck—which includes conquering the renowned Darién Gap in Central America and clinching victory at the Paris-Dakar Rally twice—Land Rover is launching a limited edition model named The Fifty.
This special edition incorporates nostalgic elements from the original SUV along with a range of exclusive luxury enhancements that elevate the already opulent Range Rover Autobiography. Production will be capped at only 1,970 units worldwide. Clever, isn’t it? 1970 units for the year of inception?

The standout elements paying homage to the original Range Rover are the retrospective color options offered with The Fifty. Tuscan Blue, Bahama Gold, and Davos White will be accessible in “extremely limited” quantities. These are complemented by other meticulously selected shades like Carpathian Grey, Rosello Red, Aruba, and Santorini Black. All external accents will feature a hue known as “Auric Atlas,” a refined sandy color finish. Moreover, the exterior trim can also be finished in a lustrous black tone.
Purchasers will be presented with a selection of two 22-inch wheel designs. One set comes drenched in a silver coating embellished with black highlights, while the other set opts for a solid black appearance. To ensure that you stand out while driving what is anticipated to be the priciest Range Rover variant (pricing details to follow later in the year), special badges featuring the word “Fifty” in an elegant script are incorporated into the exterior. This unique script was meticulously crafted by Prof. Gerry McGovern, OBE, Land Rover’s Chief Creative Officer. Luckily, he possesses impeccable handwriting skills.
Classic British luxury inside The Fifty exudes opulence, with an abundance of materials sourced from cows. The Autobiography, upon which The Fifty is inspired, offers a selection of ten different interior colors and finishes for a truly customizable experience.
The diverse range of colors and materials in The Fifty will be complemented by distinctive “Fifty” badges adorning strategic places like the shift knob, door sills, and glovebox. These badges are even embossed into the headrests, ensuring your companions are reminded of your deep admiration for Range Rover’s legacy and performance.
The North American models of The Fifty will feature the powerful 5.0-liter P525 supercharged V8 engine generating 518 horsepower. In the standard Range Rover, this engine propels the vehicle from zero to sixty in approximately five seconds regardless of the body style. If you have reservations about the 5.0-liter supercharged V8, there’s no alternative with The Fifty. The regular Range Rover, on the other hand, offers four other engine choices, including two 3.0-liter six-cylinder mild hybrids, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel, and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid.
Comprehensive information about The Fifty’s pricing and specifications will be disclosed later this year, with the luxurious treatment available for both regular and extended-wheelbase versions of the Range Rover. Considering the starting price of $130,300 for even the most affordable Autobiography variant, and given the exclusivity of The Fifty, saving up for this exquisite model is highly recommended.
