Customers are facing challenges as well. Following Williams’ ordeal, a Blazer EV owner reached out to report similar infotainment issues. When this owner brought the car to the dealership for resolution, a software update was installed, resulting in the vehicle becoming inoperable after bricking both the infotainment screen and the digital gauge cluster.
Even dealerships are experiencing difficulties with the Blazer EVs on their premises. According to Redditor Whole_Tart3159, a Chevy dealership employee, both Blazer EV units in their inventory are currently unusable due to software troubles. One of the vehicles enters a restricted mode, while the other randomly operates its charging port door.
These persistent issues have prompted Chevrolet to enforce a stop-sale on the Blazer EV. The severity and duration of these problems remain uncertain. Nevertheless, a General Motors spokesperson informed The Drive that the Blazer issues have affected only a “limited” number of owners and are not safety or Ultium-related.
GM’s official statement reads, “We recognize that a small group of Blazer EV owners have encountered software quality concerns. In order to ensure our customers enjoy a positive vehicle experience, we have temporarily suspended Blazer EV sales. Our team is acting swiftly to deploy a solution, and affected owners will receive instructions on scheduling their update. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
