When automakers revive nostalgic classic names like Bronco or Ralliart, it always sparks enthusiasm. Audi follows suit with E2, derived from the legendary Sport Quattro S1 Group B rally car’s ultimate version. Now, E2 signifies the enhanced iteration of Audi’s Dakar rally prototype, the RS Q E-Tron E2.
Last year saw the debut of the original RS Q E-Tron, a state-of-the-art rally truck designed for the Dakar Rally, featuring a unique series-hybrid propulsion system similar to those found in diesel locomotives. Its power comes from a DTM engine that acts as a generator to charge a battery, supplying energy to motors on each axle. While it triumphed in a rally in Abu Dhabi in March, there was still ample room for enhancements, which the E2 aims to capitalize on.
