The Audi Activesphere concept is the final addition to Audi’s “sphere” series of concept vehicles. This innovative creation brings forth a multitude of features. Similar to the trend of innovation in modern vehicles, the Activesphere is an electric crossover designed for versatile activities. What sets it apart is its ability to extend its rear section upwards, transforming into a utilitarian pickup truck. This transformation reveals a spacious “bed” suitable for accommodating two electric bicycles.

Augmented reality headsets are utilized within the interior for the convenience of the front passengers. These advanced headsets project interactive control surfaces and virtual exhibits, monitoring your eyes and displaying enhanced information related to your visual focus.

This system has enabled Audi to rearrange the placement of various functions through software integration. For instance, virtual climate controls appear near the air vent, while audio controls are stationed next to the speaker. Furthermore, driving-related data is projected through augmented reality, including terrain details in off-road scenarios and real-time traffic and navigation information.

Furthermore, Audi states that the Activesphere’s passenger can carry their AR headset outside the vehicle and utilize it during their next skiing or mountain biking adventure.

As a concept, the Activesphere boasts a significant amount of glass; the manufacturer’s Singleframe grille design is not a conventional grille in this model but rather a see-through element, creating a very spacious feel. The lower sections of the doors are also see-through, as is the roof. Another aspect that contributes to the car feeling more expansive than most is the absence of a central pillar. The front doors open in the usual manner, while the rear doors are of the suicide type.

Upon entering, there is a dashboard, steering wheel, and pedals that can be concealed when the vehicle is in autonomous driving mode.

Regarding driving experience, Audi mentions that this vehicle’s approximately 100-kWh battery can provide a range of over 373 miles, with the 800-volt technology enabling rapid charging. Electric motors on both axles deliver a combined output of 436 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. The air suspension and adaptive dampers are expected to ensure stability and comfort, adjustable by a 40 mm range. The 22-inch wheels feature movable components that open for off-road ventilation and close for improved on-road aerodynamics.

The Activesphere is constructed on the Premium Platform Electric architecture developed in collaboration with Porsche. Audi claims that the platform supports charging speeds of up to 270 kW, translating to an equivalent range of 186 miles added in as little as 10 minutes (or 5% to 80% in 25 minutes), but actual results remain to be seen.

Surely, the incredibly futuristic-looking vehicle showcased here is a concept; however, Audi has announced that the initial production vehicles based on the Premium Platform Electric foundation will be launched by the end of this year.
