Porsche is moving forward with the upgrade of the Cayenne SUV by introducing its most robust variant of one of the finest luxury crossover vehicles available today: the 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid plug-in.
Offered in both traditional SUV and “Coupe” SUV models, this fresh electrified Cayenne combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor to deliver a total of 729 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. (For those curious, the electric motor alone generates 174 hp while the V8 contributes 591 hp individually.) On the street, this translates to a 3.5-second acceleration to 60 mph and a maximum speed of 183 mph.
While this might seem like all the performance a SUV could ever desire and require, the nomenclature suggests there might be an even more potent Cayenne on the horizon as Porsche has kept the door open for a potential Turbo S E-Hybrid iteration, a designation that was previously used for the outgoing 670-hp version.
When compared to previous hybrid Cayennes, the new Turbo E-Hybrid is equipped with a larger 25.9-kWh battery situated beneath the cargo space, while an 11-kW charger enables swift charging in under 2.5 hours.
Also included with the E-Hybrid model is adaptive air suspension featuring new two-chamber, two-valve technology which Porsche claims allows for independent adjustment of compression and rebound settings. This reportedly enhances comfort and handling, further widening the gap between the Comfort and Sport Plus suspension modes.
In terms of aesthetics, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid showcases a bold front fascia with larger intakes and gloss black vent accents. The fenders match the body color, featuring four brushed aluminum exhaust outlets, and sport red brake calipers. Inside, aluminum trim, Race-Tex roof lining, a heated GT Sport steering wheel, and leather Sport seats grace the interior.
The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is set to hit dealerships in Q2 2024 with a starting price of $148,550 for the standard version and $153,050 for the Coupe variant.
