If the 641-hp Lamborghini Urus wasn’t satisfying enough, Lamborghini presents the latest “Super SUV,” the 2023 Urus Performante. The Performante features a slight increase in power to 656 hp, a wider wheelbase, and more aggressive aerodynamics. More notably, it intensifies the fierce design the base model was already renowned for.
The Performante sheds 103 pounds from the base model by utilizing extensive carbon fiber; Lamborghini declares that the Performante now boasts the highest number of carbon-fiber components among all high-performance production SUVs. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 features a titanium Akrapovič exhaust as standard, enabling better airflow and reducing its 0-60 time by 0.1 second, propelling the four-door SUV to 60 MPH in just 3.3 seconds. The chassis also undergoes minor adjustments, now positioned 20 mm lower and with a 16 mm wider track.
The striking aerodynamics not only exude masculinity but also deliver performance advantages, including a 38% increase in rear downforce attributed to the colossal carbon-fiber wing at the rear and an overall 8% boost in downforce. For those more concerned about impressions at the country club than sharp handling, the Performante offers optional 23-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero tires. Lamborghini also touts the addition of Rally Mode to the Urus Performante’s driving software, claiming it adjusts the dynamic “anti-roll and damping systems optimized for steel springs” to enhance oversteer on “extreme surfaces,” though the notion of off-roading on 23-inch wheels sounds quite far-fetched. I’d love to be proven wrong, however.
Internally, purchasers will discover black Alcantara as standard, featuring an exclusive hexagonal stitch pattern in the center portion of the bucket seats. For those who may overlook these features, Lamborghini reinforces the Performante identity with numerous embroidered reminders that indeed, this is a Performante. This model is priced at $260,676 for U.S. buyers before delivery.
