The 2022 Land Rover Defender was recently revealed with a new supercharged V8 variant. Land Rover has now disclosed the pricing for this eight-cylindered 4×4. The Defender V8 will be available in the U.S. this summer, starting at $98,550 for the two-door 90 model and $101,750 for the four-door 110 version, excluding destination charges.
For those who missed it, the latest LR Defender boasts a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 518 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain enables the luxury off-roader to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 149 mph.
The new V8 Defender can also be customized as a Carpathian Edition, primarily altering its appearance. Priced $6,800 higher, this option includes a unique Carpathian Gray metallic paint finish with a black contrast roof, satin black tow hooks, a front grille bar, blue brake calipers, and glossy skid plates, signaling the specific target market for this variant of the Defender.
For those not looking for the V8 option, the Defender is still available with its existing engines—a mild hybrid 3.0-liter turbo straight-six or a 2.0-liter turbo-four. The four-cylinder Defender 90 starts at $49,050 and the six-cylinder version at $60,850. Opt for the four-door 110 model, and the prices are $51,850 and $66,450, respectively.
