Despite the absence of new powertrains and the elimination of a manual gearbox, Genesis has worked on enhancing the driving appeal of the updated G70. The Korean Domestic Market (KDM) model now comes with a standard “Sport+” driving mode across all trims, offering more dynamic powertrain tuning and likely firmer steering and suspension. V6 variants equipped with the Sports package also receive a Variable Exhaust Valve System and drift mode for all-wheel-drive models.
Adjustable exhaust systems allow drivers to customize the sound of their vehicles based on preference and typically adapt the volume to suit the driving mode. Meanwhile, drift mode is expected to shift most, if not all, torque to the rear wheels for easier sideways maneuvers.
However, the 2022 Genesis G70 isn’t all about raucous driving. The updated compact luxury sedan now features a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display with a unique “Genesis-exclusive” user interface and supports over-the-air updates. Its instrument cluster has been enlarged for improved readability, and the wireless charger now offers faster phone charging. The use of acoustic glass for the windshield and front windows ensures a quieter interior.
Having said that, it’s important to note that all these enhancements have only been officially confirmed for the Korean-market G70, set for imminent release in that region. A spokesperson from Genesis Motor America declined to comment on whether these updates will extend to the U.S., but regardless, anticipate the arrival of the 2022 Genesis G70 at American dealerships sometime in 2021.
