Unveiling the 2020 Corsair Grand Touring Plug-in Hybrid at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, Lincoln introduced a luxurious crossover new to the PHEV CUV range initiated by the Aviator Grand Touring Plug-in Hybrid earlier this year.
The Corsair Grand Touring will serve as the recently launched Corsair’s counterpart, distinguished by distinctive blue badging throughout. Lincoln asserts that the Corsair Grand Touring will be equipped with the inaugural electric all-wheel-drive system in the compact luxury crossover segment, featuring an electric motor on each axle. The electric power sources integrate with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder combustion engine and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) to yield a peak output of 266 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 25-mile electric-only range.
The Corsair hybrid’s electric driving capability can be activated immediately upon starting or conserved for later use, stored in a standard underfloor battery pack. Consequently, the Corsair hybrid maintains an interior space mirroring its non-hybrid variant, accommodating four occupants and their belongings. Abundant sound insulation along with Active Noise Control (which neutralizes unwanted frequencies) ensures that the Corsair GT offers a tranquil interior environment complemented by its 24-way adjustable front seats with massage functionality.
Crafted for the upcoming decade, the Corsair GT is brimming with technology enhancing convenience and safety. Owners of the Corsair GT can use their smartphones instead of traditional keys for heightened vehicle security off-road. On-road, the Corsair boasts a comprehensive array of driving aids, including collision, blind spot, and rear cross-traffic monitoring, automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams, and a rear-view camera. An optional head-up display promotes focus on the road, complemented by Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus, offering Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Reverse Brake Assist, and Active Park Assist Plus.
Manufacture of the 2020 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring will occur in Louisville, Kentucky, with availability at dealerships scheduled for the Summer of 2020.
