Tesla Cybertruck Deliveries Postponed Again Over Malfunctioning Wiper Issues

After a two-year delay, one might expect that Tesla would have resolved its issues. Unfortunately, that is not the case, especially with the much-anticipated Cybertruck. The launch of this electric pickup has faced multiple hurdles, including problems with its sticky throttles and wheel covers that damage tires. The most recent challenge involves the vehicle’s large single-blade windshield wiper, which, similar to previous concerns regarding the accelerator, is causing further delays in deliveries.

Customers with pending Cybertruck orders have been notified about a one-week delay, according to multiple sources reported by InsideEVs. For those who have been waiting since the pickup’s announcement in 2019, seven additional days might seem trivial.

As per discussions on the Cybertruck Owners Club, the delay stems from a problem with the wiper motor, necessitating a replacement. Feedback from users suggests that this one-week delay is specifically affecting new vehicle deliveries. Meanwhile, existing owners are facing a safety issue due to inoperable wipers and have been advised by Tesla Service Centers to expect a wait of “a few weeks.” This inconsistency is troubling, especially with unpredictable summer rainstorms occurring across the nation.

One owner from Florida recounted an experience of getting caught in a downpour shortly after taking delivery of his truck last week. Without a working wiper, he had no choice but to wait it out at a local Dunkin’ Donuts for over three hours until the rain stopped—resulting in an excessive consumption of Munchkins and mochas. Roadside assistance connected him to the service center, which provided him with a timeframe of several weeks for repairs. In the meantime, he has resorted to using Rain-X and driving with his head out of the window.

This wiper issue is not a new development. Just last month, another owner reported on Reddit that they contacted their local service center about a non-working wiper and learned that another Cybertruck with the same issue was present at the service location. However, the company was unable to perform repairs, even with available parts, as Tesla continued to work on a solution.

Electrek also reported issues with its Cybertruck tester’s wiper, initially attributing it to a faulty automatic wiper system. However, further investigations suggest that the Cybertruck’s specific defect may be indicative of a broader and more serious issue—though Tesla has not made any official statements regarding this matter.
