Subaru has announced a new special edition of the BRZ—the BRZ STI Sport. As suggested by its name, this model has been developed in partnership with STI and is claimed to be both the most luxurious and the best-performing BRZ to date. However, Subaru has not increased its power output; there are no turbos or superchargers, nor any vague modifications mentioned for the engine.
The BRZ STI Sport does include several impressive features such as Brembo brakes at all four corners, Sachs dampers and coil springs, flexible V-braces, and stiffeners for the front draw. It also boasts distinctive black 18-inch wheels fitted with upgraded high-performance tires. To enhance its visual appeal, the STI Sport features a modified front bumper, blacked-out side mirrors and BRZ badges, as well as STI logos integrated into various areas of the body.
Inside, the vehicle showcases dark red leather seats with Alcantara accents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, glossy black trim for the HVAC and window controls, and stainless steel STI-branded door sills.
Although the absence of performance upgrades since the BRZ’s debut in 2012 may be seen as a letdown, it’s essential to note that this model has never been primarily defined by sheer power. Ultimately, the lack of engine enhancements likely won’t impact most readers of The Drive, as the BRZ STI Sport is intended for the Japanese market only.
