Gian Paolo Dallara’s Restored Miura Takes Top Honors at Salon Privé

When Gian Paolo Dallara, Lamborghini’s technical director, embarks on designing a vehicle, he often ends up crafting a work of art. Renowned for his contributions, including the iconic rear wing of the Countach and the chassis of the stunning Miura, Dallara holds a personal connection to the Miura itself. In 2016, he purchased a model for himself and subsequently asked Polo Storico, Lamborghini’s dedicated restoration team, to restore it to its original specifications, utilizing authentic parts from their extensive collection. The restoration process lasted 14 months, culminating in the car’s reveal in July.

Dallara’s prized vehicle is a 1965 Miura P400, chassis #3165, adorned in a striking white exterior with a black interior. His journey to acquire this Lamborghini was serendipitous: he discovered it in Parma, Italy, his birthplace. After nearly 3,000 hours of painstaking restoration, Dallara enthusiastically states that the car is now in pristine, original condition.

The reconditioned Miura has garnered admiration beyond Dallara’s expectations; it earned the title of best-in-class at the Salon Privé Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elegance on August 31st. This prestigious event held at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire featured over 60 classic exotic cars competing in seven categories. Dallara’s Miura triumphed in the "Evolution of the Supercar Pin-ups" category, outshining seven other legendary supercars, including the Ford GT40 and Ferrari F40.

In summary, Dallara’s dedication to preserving the legacy of the Miura has resulted in a stunning vehicle that not only reflects his passion but also stands out in high-profile competitions.
