Spanish authorities have dismantled a counterfeit operation that was producing fake Ferraris and Lamborghinis using ordinary cars, as reported by police.

On Sunday, the Spanish Policia Nacional announced the arrest of three individuals in Girona for their involvement in creating these imitation sports cars. Officials discovered 14 vehicles in various stages of alteration, including four that were complete replicas of Ferraris and ready for sale. They also seized numerous components resembling authentic Ferrari and Lamborghini parts, such as speedometers and documentation.

Additionally, police found a fully equipped marijuana cultivation facility at the workshop where the counterfeit supercars were manufactured.

Detectives traced the counterfeit cars through online sales

The Policia Nacional indicated that their investigation into the supercar counterfeiters began with a series of second-hand car sales websites, initially discovering one vehicle for sale in Benidorm.

According to the Daily Mail, the fake sports cars were primarily based on models such as the Toyota MR2, Ford Cougar, and Peugeot 406.
