The progress of automotive technology is heavily influenced by industrial digitalization.
To meet the escalating demand within the industry for seamless interconnected driving experiences, SoftServe, a prominent IT consulting and digital solutions provider, collaborated with Continental, a leading German automotive technology enterprise, to create Industrial Co-Pilot. This virtual assistant, driven by generative AI, empowers engineers to optimize maintenance workflows.
SoftServe supports manufacturers like Continental in enhancing their operations by incorporating the Universal Scene Description, or OpenUSD, framework into virtual factory solutions such as Industrial Co-Pilot, developed on the NVIDIA Omniverse system.
OpenUSD provides the desired flexibility and adaptability for organizations to leverage the complete potential of digital transformation, thus streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency. Omniverse, comprising APIs, SDKs, and services, enables developers to seamlessly integrate OpenUSD and NVIDIA RTX rendering technologies into their existing software tools and simulation workflows.
Unlocking the Advantages of OpenUSD
Through the collaboration on Industrial Co-Pilot between SoftServe and Continental, generative AI and immersive 3D visualization are combined to assist factory teams in boosting productivity during equipment and production line maintenance tasks. Engineers now have the capability to supervise production lines, monitor individual station performance, and oversee the shop floor.
The copilot allows engineers to engage in root cause analysis, access step-by-step work guidance, and obtain recommendations, resulting in streamlined documentation processes and enhanced maintenance procedures. These advancements are projected to contribute to escalated productivity and a 10% decrease in maintenance workload and downtime.
In a recent Omniverse community livestream, Benjamin Huber, who oversees advanced automation and digitalization in the user experience division at Continental, emphasized the importance of the company’s collaboration with SoftServe and its adoption of Omniverse.
Omniverse equips Continental and SoftServe developers with the necessary tools to forge a new era of AI-enabled industrial applications and services. By eliminating data silos and promoting cross-platform collaboration with OpenUSD, developers from SoftServe and Continental enable engineers to seamlessly collaborate across disciplines and systems, therefore enhancing efficiency and fostering innovation throughout their operations.
Huber stated, “Any engineer, irrespective of the tools they are using, can convert their data into OpenUSD and interchange data between disciplines, tools, and platforms.”
This sentiment was echoed by Vasyl Boliuk, senior lead and automation engineer at SoftServe, who recounted how OpenUSD and Omniverse, alongside other NVIDIA technologies like NVIDIA Riva, NVIDIA NeMo, and NVIDIA NIM microservices, empowered teams from SoftServe and Continental to cultivate custom large language models and integrate them into novel 3D workflows.
“OpenUSD permits us to include any attribute or metadata of our choice into our applications,” he explained.
Boliuk, Huber, and other representatives from SoftServe and Continental participated in the livestream to further elaborate on the potential unleashed by these OpenUSD-driven solutions. Watch the replay:
By embracing state-of-the-art technologies and fostering cooperation, SoftServe and Continental are playing a vital role in reshaping the landscape of automotive manufacturing.
