This is not the first instance we’ve encountered of this nature, nor will it likely be the last. With the rise of GoPro cameras at track days, videos of cars veering off track have captured significant attention online. From a 4,000+ horsepower Corvette launching skyward on the drag strip to the incident shared here, there is no shortage of entertainment for those unable to attend motorsport events. Unfortunately, the driver of this Volkswagen Golf faced a brake failure that led to a harrowing off-track experience.
The video begins with a rear view of a Mazda Miata navigating its way around the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Tulsa, OK. As the Miata weaves skillfully from turn to turn, it initially appears to be just another lap captured for the driver’s collection. However, the focus quickly shifts to a yellow Volkswagen Golf that soon becomes the highlight of the footage. The Golf follows closely behind the Miata through a corner but loses control, veering onto the grass and soaring into the nearby woods.
Fortunately, the driver emerged unharmed from the incident. This serves as a remarkable example of having a camera positioned just right to capture such a dramatic event, though undoubtedly, the Golf driver would prefer that this incident had never occurred.
