Samsung Electro-Mechanics, a South Korean manufacturer of electronic components, has broadened its lineup of automotive high-voltage multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) to include larger sizes.

The growing use of higher voltages in electric vehicle (EV) power electronics, such as onboard chargers, motor drive inverters, DC-DC converters, wireless power transfer systems, battery management systems, compressors, and pumps, has led to an increased demand for high-voltage MLCCs.

In response to this demand, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has commenced mass production of its CL43B222KJRRPJ#, CL43B224KHU6PJ#, and CL43B474KEU6PJ# models. The company has enhanced the bending strength of the new 1812-inch (4.5×3.2 mm) sizes by employing proprietary ceramics, micronizing materials, and soft termination technologies. This move expands their product range beyond the existing 1210-inch format.

The X7R dielectric MLCCs, rated for temperatures between -55° C to 125° C, feature a voltage range of 250 V to 2,000 V and a capacitance range of 2.2 nF to 470 nF.
