Ever found yourself cruising around Beverly Hills in your customized, “Tactical Utility Vehicles,” sensing disapproval for not being environmentally friendly enough? It can be challenging to communicate your rugged, stylish, and
tactical vibe without attracting those critical glares from your affluent peers. Fortunately, there’s a remedy. The Rezvani Tank, based on the
Jeep Wrangler,
now presents a hybrid powertrain sourced from the Wrangler 4xe.
The Tank comes with the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine found in various Jeeps, delivering 285
horsepower. However, for an extra $8,
500, you can opt for the Wrangler 4xe’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with two electric motors and a 17 kWh battery. This hybrid configuration boosts the output to 375 horsepower and
470 pound-feet of torque. Despite its hybrid technology, the Rezvani Tank retains the same eight-speed automatic transmission, selectable all-wheel drive, and both high and low range capabilities.
According to Rezvani, the hybrid Tank achieves 49 MPGe and can travel up to 20 miles solely on electric power. These numbers mirror the Wrangler 4xe’s efficiency but with a slightly lesser electric range,
likely attributed to the additional weight of the Tank’s custom bodywork, larger wheels, and rugged tires.
Aside from the charging port located on the front fender’s driver side, there are minimal cues indicating the Tank’s hybrid nature. This implies that owners may need to incorporate some decals or experiment with distinct color schemes to signal to onlookers that it’s a hybrid vehicle.
Interestingly, Rezvani also provides the hybrid setup in the Tank Military Edition. The Military Edition is notably heavier due to being bulletproof, having underneath explosive protection, military specification run-flat tires, ram bumpers, reinforced shocks, and a smoke screen system. Therefore, efficiency may vary.
If you are unbothered by the critical gazes of Prius drivers and wish to adopt the bold appearance of the Rezvani Tank, there are alternate more extreme powertrain options offered, such as the 707 horsepower Hellcat engine and the 1,000 horsepower Demon engine.
