These vehicles are driven by cutting-edge turbodiesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric power systems. Additionally, all-wheel drive is optionally available. Overview asset

Assortment of Models: Volkswagen Commercial Autos presents the novel Transporter in various models such as a panel van (for transporting goods), panel van Plus (which includes a second row of seats for combined goods and passenger transport), Kombi (ideal for passenger transport), and a double cab variant (long wheelbase platform body). The Kombi and panel van versions can be equipped with a high roof and extended wheelbase as optional features. With nine seats, the exclusive Caravelle is tailored for commercial passenger transport, making it an excellent shuttle and high-capacity taxi. The Caravelle will be available in entry-level, medium Life, and top-of-the-line Style specifications. An extended wheelbase version is also on offer, along with the popular and rugged PanAmericana variant based on the new generation of Transporter and Caravelle.

Innovative Selection of Drives: Volkswagen Commercial Autos is significantly expanding its lineup of power systems with the introduction of the latest Transporter and Caravelle models. Alongside the advanced turbodiesel engines (TDI), these models will be offered with both plug-in hybrid and all-electric propulsion options. The pre-sales phase is already underway with three TDI engine configurations: 81 kW (110 PS), 110 kW (150 PS), and 125 kW (170 PS). The newly developed plug-in hybrid drive (eHybrid) with a total output of 171 kW (232 PS) is also available for order. Three electric drives producing 100 kW (136 PS), 160 kW (218 PS), and 210 kW (286 PS) with a net battery capacity of 64 kWh will be introduced shortly. Furthermore, an electric model with reduced power and smaller battery for urban deliveries is in the pipeline. The TDI and eHybrid variations feature front-wheel drive, with the option for 4MOTION all-wheel drive for TDI versions starting from 110 kW. The all-electric models come with rear-wheel drive, while an all-wheel drive version is in development for later release. The 125 kW TDI includes an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard, with the option available for the 110 kW TDI. Automatic transmission is mandatory for plug-in hybrid and electric models.

A Detailed Look at the Transporter

Distinctive Bulli Experience: The driver’s entrance ushers in a new era for Volkswagen vans. The seventh generation no longer relies on a traditional key for ignition but instead employs a starter button located beside the 12-inch digital instrument panel and the 13-inch infotainment screen. Featuring a standard multifunction steering wheel with clearly marked buttons, the infotainment system volume can be adjusted using either the steering wheel controls or a traditional knob. The handbrake lever has been replaced by a dashboard-mounted switch for the parking brake, while the automatic variants sport a space-saving steering column gear lever, providing improved access to the cargo or passenger area. The revised center console now houses large cup holders (model-dependent) along with additional cup holders and convenient storage compartments atop the dashboard, simplifying daily operations. Reflecting Bulli van traditions, the Transporter boasts a high, uncluttered dashboard, elevated seating position, and ergonomic control layout.

Optimal User-Friendliness: The new Transporter measures 5,050 mm in length (an additional 146 mm compared to the T6.1 model). Its wheelbase has been elongated by 97 mm to 3,100 mm, with an optional 400 mm extension (total length: 5,450 mm) available. The exterior width now stands at 2,032 mm, an increase of 128 mm (excluding mirrors) compared to its predecessors. The maximum width between the wheel arches has also been augmented by 148 mm to 1,392 mm, facilitating the storage of Euro pallets. In the normal-wheelbase Transporter, the load compartment floor length is 2,602 mm, which signifies a 61 mm expansion; the extended wheelbase variant offers a floor length of 3,002 mm. Thanks to the expanded dimensions, Volkswagen Commercial Autos has significantly enlarged the load capacity of the new Transporter. The maximum cargo volume for normal wheelbase models is now 5.8 m3. The long wheelbase with a high roof can accommodate up to 9.0 m3. The Transporter can be configured with up to six seats in the passenger area, along with various partition options.

Efficient Power Supply: Various interfaces including USB-A, USB-C, and 12 V sockets power the electrical components. Optional equipment grants access to 230 V sockets, with the diesel variants featuring a 230 V socket on the driver’s seat frame. The electric Transporter will include two additional sockets in the proximity of the D-pillars. The total output of the 230 V system can reach up to 2,300 watts, providing a suitable power source for a range of electrical devices, from laptops to power tools.

Enhanced Payload and Towing Capability: Despite its size, the new Transporter, standing at less than 2.0 meters in height (standard roof), can be accommodated in all conventional multi-story car parks. With a turning radius of just 11.8 meters (normal wheelbase), it effortlessly navigates tight corners during maneuvers. Volkswagen Commercial Autos has ensured that this professional tool can handle the weight it transports: the maximum payload capacity reaches up to 1.33 tonnes. In addition, the latest Transporter generation can tow trailers weighing up to 2.8 tonnes (variant-dependent), surpassing its predecessor’s capability of up to 2.5 tonnes.

Expanded Standard Features: Volkswagen Commercial Autos has broadened the standard equipment lineup for their new Transporter models in comparison to their predecessors. New integrated features include LED headlights, LED tail lights, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold functionality, 12-inch digital instrument displays (Digital Cockpit), an advanced infotainment system (including DAB+, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, online services, and a 13-inch touchscreen), and a host of other cutting-edge amenities.

With a versatile steering wheel, the hands-free Start system, rain detector, Lane Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Dynamic Road Sign Display are incorporated in the lineup. Also, the panel van now comes with a standard partition. As for the Kombi model with rear windows, it distinguishes itself with three separate seats in the second row and an audio configuration with six loudspeakers instead of four.

A Look at the Caravelle

Standard Nine Seating: The Caravelle proves to be an excellent option for large-capacity taxis or shuttle services. The base version comes equipped with a removable three-seat bench in the back row as standard, offering a total of nine seats. In comparison to the Transporter variants, the Caravelle boasts upgraded seat materials, side and curtain airbags in the cabin, and an audio setup with ten speakers. The middle-tier Life trim level includes additions like color-matched bumpers, mirror housing, and door handles, an air conditioning system, armrests for the driver’s seat, and a height-adjustable front passenger seat with lumbar support adjustment. On top of that, it features armrests matching those of the driver’s seat, unique interior trims, three extra USB ports in the cabin, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Distinctive Styling of the Flagship Variant: The Caravelle Style model stands out with its unique front end featuring a dark contrasting strip and integrated chrome accent. The chrome detailing extends to the standard LED matrix headlights, which also include cornering and adverse weather illumination. The Caravelle Style further includes LED taillights with a personalized light signature, rear privacy glass, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It comes with standard keyless locking and starting, electrically folding exterior mirrors, premium two-tone leatherette seats, unique interior finishes, a multifunctional leather steering wheel, a spacious center console with cup holders, a three-zone automatic climate control with rear panel controls on the headliner, and sunshades in the second-row seats. Optionally, the Caravelle can be tailored with features like a panoramic roof and a Harman Kardon sound system with 14 speakers and a subwoofer.

Exploring the PanAmericana

Designed for Tough Applications: The PanAmericana package was introduced with the fourth Transporter generation in 2001 and later evolved into a standalone version with the fifth generation. With the seventh generation, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles now presents the PanAmericana as a dedicated version available for both panel van models and Caravelle. The new PanAmericana model showcases robust all-terrain accents on the side panels and wheel arches, durable bumpers, and a painted radiator grille. Inside, occupants are greeted with illuminated stainless steel steps, high-gloss black accents on the dashboard, and chrome interior door handles. The van features exclusive seat fabrics with PanAmericana branding on the backrests and color-coordinated stitching. The Caravelle PanAmericana ships with 19-inch Indianapolis alloy wheels as standard, while the optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive complements both variants perfectly in terms of capability and versatility.
