Our experience with the Chevy Silverado EV left us with conflicting opinions, much like others. Young American drivers may be more receptive to Chinese electric vehicles. How much more eco-friendly are the hydrogen hubs, funded by taxpayers with billions, compared to diesel in general? Read all about this and more here at Green Car Reports.

Our test drive of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST revealed that this large electric truck has average real-world efficiency, with a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds, which is moderate compared to other full-size trucks. However, due to its large battery pack, it is expected to deliver satisfactory highway range and occasional towing performance. The Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode provides rapid acceleration, while ensuring a smooth and quiet ride. Keep in mind that full smartphone connectivity may be limited.

Two legislators are calling for the Department of Energy to disclose the anticipated emissions from federal hydrogen hubs. The $8 billion initiative aims to boost hydrogen production for the trucking industry and beyond, but it must demonstrate significant environmental benefits compared to diesel—which interestingly was omitted from the initial proposal.

Results from a recent survey suggest that younger American drivers are more open to considering Chinese electric vehicles, despite concerns regarding data privacy. Those under 40 are also more inclined to explore Chinese-made vehicles produced in Mexico as a way to navigate tariffs. The influence of the limited availability of affordable electric vehicles from traditional U.S. automakers on these trends remains uncertain.
