Historically, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban have prioritized comfortable and secure journeys as their primary focus. However, for the upcoming 2025 model year, these popular full-size SUVs are undergoing a significant transformation, where their external appearance is appealing, but it’s inside the vehicle where the noticeable changes take place.

Those loyal to GM’s large SUV lineup will notice the updated front-end designs on both models. The Tahoe, particularly in its Z71 trim, exudes an aura of ruggedness and purposefulness. However, the real spotlight shines on the revamped interior brimming with cutting-edge technology. The centerpiece is a new, expansive infotainment screen measuring 17.7 inches diagonally. It’s so sizable that the task of gear selection has been relocated to a lever, moving away from buttons previously positioned to the left of the screen, adjacent to the climate vents.

With the current Tahoe starting at $58,195—GM will announce pricing for the 2025 models closer to their launch “late next year”—the extensively redesigned dashboard now aligns more with the expectations of a premium SUV in this segment. Despite the sleeker look, a variety of physical buttons remains flanking the steering wheel, a sight appreciated by many.

The updated 3.0-liter Duramax diesel, introduced in the Silverado, has also found its place in the Tahoe and Suburban lineups. This inline-six engine delivers 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, enhancements of 28 hp and 35 lb-ft, respectively, over the previous diesel variant. These performance gains can be attributed to a recalibrated turbocharger, new pistons, higher-flow injectors, and enhanced overall cooling.

The 5.3-liter V8 engine remains the base option, with the choice of a 6.2-liter V8 for higher trim levels. The multi-link rear suspension has undergone refinements, while the steering has been tuned to optimize handling further. Additionally, Chevrolet’s Air Ride Adaptive Suspension will debut on the RST trim for the first time. Towing capacity remains at 8,400 pounds for the Tahoe and 8,200 pounds for the Suburban.

The technological enhancements continue. Interior Motion Detection alerts occupants to even the slightest movements within the cabin using sensors to reduce the risk of inadvertently leaving passengers behind. Additionally, a new Connected Camera feature offers a comprehensive 360-degree view of both the interior and exterior surroundings of the vehicle. Think of it as an advanced dash-cam system, integrated seamlessly for ease of use. Super Cruise, the hands-free driving technology, remains available for those seeking added convenience.

Production of the updated Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban is set to commence at GM’s Arlington, Texas facility in the final quarter of the following year. This means there will be a considerable wait before witnessing these vehicles in person, let alone enjoying the luxurious High Country interior.
