Proton eMas - 29 dealers signed, 25 to be opened at launch; Kota Kinabalu and Kuching included

In addition to providing a sneak peek of the electric eMas 7 SUV, Proton has also revealed that it has secured 29 dealers – an increase from the previous 18 – for its electrified eMas (stylized as e.MAS) sub-brand. The objective is to have 25 outlets operational by the time the vehicle is launched in December. The forthcoming showroom locations are distributed across almost all regions, including Sabah and Sarawak.

Predictably, the majority of dealerships are situated in the central area – three in Kuala Lumpur (Cheras, Jalan Kuching, and Jalan Tun Razak) and nine in Selangor (two in Petaling Jaya and one each in Rawang, Glenmarie, Kajang, Puncak Jalil, Balakong, Shah Alam, and Puchong).

Furthermore, there will be three showrooms in Johor (Plentong, Medini, and Johor Bahru) and Perak (two in Ipoh and one in Taiping), along with two in Penang (Butterworth and Georgetown) and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The remaining dealers will be in Sungai Petani, Kedah; Kota Bharu, Kelantan; Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Pahang, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Kuching, Sarawak.

The initial model in the eMas series will be the eMas 7, developed in collaboration with Geely alongside the Galaxy E5. Using the Global Modular Architecture (GMA), the vehicle will employ a 12-in-1 motor with an asserted efficiency of 90.04% and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery incorporating Aegis “short blade” battery cells. It will also feature a Flyme Auto entertainment system fueled by a 7 nm chip.

While specific details have not been disclosed yet, the Galaxy E5 in China is provided with a sole front motor generating 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The Middle Kingdom offers two battery capacities – the 49.52 kWh variant with a CLTC range of 440 km, and the 60.22 kWh version claiming to achieve up to 530 km. Anticipate the eMas 7 to share similar components.
