A classic piece of automotive history associated with former President Donald Trump, a 2007 Ferrari F430 F1 Coupe, recently fell short of expectations at an Auctions America event in Fort Lauderdale. Initially purchased new by Trump, the car was withdrawn from bidding after offers remained below the reserve price of $250,000. Despite including the original New York title adorned with Trump’s “distinctive, bold signature” and claims that it may be the only Ferrari owned by a president, the vehicle did not achieve the anticipated high sales figures, as reported by Bloomberg.
The auction house later stated that the F430 was sold for $270,000 in a private deal just moments after the public auction ended, though it was initially estimated to fetch up to $350,000. This comes in light of Trump’s previous automotive successes—such as his personalized 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster, which sold for $460,000 last fall on eBay—making the outcome for this Rosso Corsa Ferrari somewhat underwhelming.
Despite its notable background, the F430 seems to be in a tricky position within the collector market, often overshadowed by the more esteemed 360 and 458 models. According to Bloomberg, the average auction price for models featuring the semi-automatic transmission has declined by 15 percent since 2012, settling around $125,000—substantially less than its original MSRP. Trump appeared to align with market trends, having only driven the car for 2,400 miles during his four-year ownership. While this indicates it is in excellent condition, Jonathan Klinger from Hagerty mentioned to Bloomberg that the car’s value may have taken a hit since it is no longer linked to the president.
Nonetheless, it’s always significant when a former presidential vehicle becomes available for purchase, especially one equipped with a powerful 4.3-liter V8 engine. Given Trump’s history with various cars, it’s plausible that more of his vehicles could appear at auction in the near future as their current owners seek to profit. Our prediction leans towards the Allante being next on the auction block.
