Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program, celebrated for its tailor-made vehicles, has introduced a remarkable rarity: the 993 Speedster. This unique model is derived from the iconic 993 series but includes a variety of custom features that distinguish it from all others. The most prominent alteration is its distinctive design, which includes a lowered windshield and a redesigned rear deck that pays homage to classic Speedsters while preserving the unique identity of the 993.
The car was showcased at Monterey Car Week before returning to Europe, where Italian designer Luca Trazzi was present for the final delivery of the vehicle he had a hand in designing through the Sonderwunsch program. Built on a 993 Carrera Cabriolet platform, the Speedster is finished in Otto yellow, a nod to the owner’s dog. Throughout the construction process, Porsche permitted Trazzi to observe the galvanization of the bare bodyshell, even allowing him to apply some of the paint himself. The Sonderwunsch division has been operational for years, enabling select customers to personalize production models and create unique, one-off vehicles.
Under the hood, this Speedster boasts a 3.6-liter flat-six engine that produces 282 horsepower. However, the 993 Speedster is not just about style; it aims to provide the authentic driving experience and dynamic performance that Porsche aficionados expect, all while remaining true to the Carrera lineage.
Inside, the exclusivity continues with custom leather upholstery designed specifically for this model, along with distinct badging that underscores its unique status. The meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout the interior, where each element has been thoughtfully crafted to provide a luxurious and individualized driving environment.
As a singular creation from Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program, the 993 Speedster represents a modern interpretation of Porsche’s storied history, effectively blending tradition with innovation.
