Toyota Motor North America, Inc. has announced a safety recall affecting certain Lexus IS and GS models due to a potential fuel leak that could pose a fire hazard.

The recall includes the Lexus IS 350 from model years 2006-2013, the IS 350C from 2010-2014, and the GS 350 from 2007-2011, as well as GS 450h models. According to the manufacturer, approximately 115,000 vehicles in the United States are impacted.

The vehicles subject to this recall feature a specific 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. The announcement indicates that “The diaphragm material in the fuel pulsation dampers within this engine may harden and crack over time, resulting in fuel leaks. A fuel leak near an ignition source can heighten the risk of a vehicle fire.”

As part of the recall protocol, Lexus dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe with a new, redesigned unit featuring upgraded pulsation dampers at no cost to the vehicle owners. Toyota plans to notify vehicle owners about the recall through first-class mail in early August.

Toyota advises, “Information regarding automotive recalls, including the list of vehicles affected, may change over time.” If customers wish to find the most up-to-date safety recall information for Toyota, Lexus, or Scion vehicles, they can check their vehicle’s status by visiting Toyota’s recall webpage and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Additionally, inquiries about safety recalls can be made for individual VINs through the NHTSA website.

For further assistance and customer support, owners can reach out to the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1 (800) 331-4331 or the Lexus Guest Experience Center at 1 (800) 255-3987.
