Genesis Motors, the Korean car manufacturer, is expanding the array of cutting-edge technologies in the G70 sedan for the year 2019. One of the key additions is the introduction of a state-of-the-art instrument panel featuring immersive 3D visuals. This pioneering 12.3-inch display will be a groundbreaking creation in the automotive industry and will make its debut initially in the Korean market.

As reported by Motor Authority, Genesis has developed this screen using stereoscopy, a method that generates three-dimensional effects by imbuing flat images with the illusion of depth. The display has the capability to monitor the driver’s eye movements to achieve this effect, which could be advantageous for certain driving-related functions like navigation or autonomous driving technologies. Genesis assures that the displays will be highly customizable, enabling drivers to select the information that is constantly visible. This includes receiving 3D navigation instructions or even viewing a lap timer directly on the screen, particularly useful for sports car enthusiasts. Various modes on the 3D digital display can be tailored to suit the driver’s preferences or the driving style during the journey, as chosen.

Naturally, not every driver may appreciate this technology, so individuals uncomfortable with 3D visuals have the option to switch to the conventional 2D viewing mode.

While specific details about the full functionality of the Genesis 3D instrument panel are still scarce, a significant question lingers regarding its future availability in the North American market. It’s unlikely to be featured in the 2019 G70 models since they have already been released for sale in the United States, but there is a possibility it might be incorporated in the 2020 G70s. If not, there’s always the subsequent year.

“We are unable to provide insight on future availability as this has yet to be determined for the U.S. market,” stated a Genesis representative to The Drive.
