Mitsui Ocean Cruises has announced the entertainment schedule for its latest vessel, the Mitsui Ocean Fuji.

A press release detailed that the offerings will include music, theater, comedy, dance, interactive games, and enrichment activities.

This lineup merges Funatabi, which the company defines as experiences highlighting the beauty of Japan, with modern-style performances to create a diverse selection of engaging activities.

“The lively entertainment program aboard the Mitsui Ocean Fuji is crafted to bring joy, fun, and cultural enrichment, filling the ship’s inviting spaces with music, artistry, and inspiring shows,” stated Keiichiro Kawano, the ship’s Hotel General Manager.

“We have integrated traditional Japanese performing arts with contemporary acts to ensure an unforgettable experience for our guests.”

Mitsui Ocean Cruises noted that the centerpiece of the entertainment on the Fuji will be the Ocean State, a versatile venue set to host Broadway-style productions.

World-class singers and dancers will perform 45-minute shows featuring choreography, costumes, and musical arrangements created by Belinda King.

The program includes three major performances: La Danza, which celebrates global dance artistry, and The Midnight Hour, designed to evoke an evening in Chicago with references to icons like Elvis Presley, Peggy Lee, Bill Paul, and Booker T.

Amour rounds out the offerings, celebrating romantic tales and love songs, featuring classics from artists like Stevie Wonder and Michael Bublé.

The Mitsui Ocean Fuji will also enhance the Funatabi experience by offering genuine interactions that spotlight Japan’s local culture.

This lineup features Rakugo, the traditional Japanese art of comic storytelling, showcased in a solo comedic performance, along with storytelling workshops and an improv variety show involving guests and crew.

The ship will also conduct arts and crafts classes and provide a curated selection of Japanese literature, alongside special lectures on the country’s literature, art, history, and nature.

Additional planned activities will include live music from a variety of artists, themed nights, sailaway festivities, deck parties, and trivia sessions led by the crew.

Currently being prepared for its debut in Japan, the Mitsui Ocean Fuji is set to embark on its inaugural cruise on December 1, 2024.
