Recently, Mitsubishi gave a sneak peek of a fresh Ralliart concept vehicle, an announcement we suggested handling with cautious optimism. As revealed, it’s indeed a crossover. Named the Mitsubishi Vision Ralliart Concept, this model is an enhanced Outlander featuring a body kit, along with larger brakes and wheels. While many had hoped for a coupe or sedan, it appears fitting that Ralliarts from the past, and the majority of Mitsubishi’s iconic cars, have been upgraded versions of standard commuter vehicles.

The Vision Ralliart Concept is said to “personify Mitsubishi Motors’ outlook for the new Ralliart,” showcasing bold front and rear fascias with intriguing mesh accents at the bottom. Despite the limited visibility provided in the images, the matte black paint reportedly emits “blue highlights” in certain lighting conditions.

The transparent “grille” showcasing chrome Ralliart slashes adds to the visual appeal, along with the widened fenders and stylish 22-inch center-lock wheels. Positioned behind these wheels are substantial brake discs equipped with opposed-piston, six-piston calipers, matching the braking capabilities to the potent torque produced by the motors. While Mitsubishi has not disclosed further powertrain or engineering specifics, the use of “motors” hints at potential electrification.

Although the anticipation for something more exciting was high (Where’s the Evo XI, Mitsubishi?!), the visual appeal of this crossover is not to be dismissed. The robust and daring body design, combined with the matte black finish, brings to mind a BMW X6 M with a more practical touch. If Mitsubishi were to follow the Eclipse Cross strategy and reimagine the Evo as a crossover, this aesthetic direction seems preferred.
