On Friday, Maserati unveiled an ultra-exclusive and likely high-priced track-focused supercar, following the footsteps of Ferrari’s XX program and the Aston Martin Vulcan. Codenamed Project24, this limited edition release will include only 62 units.

The Maserati Project24 is derived from the MC20, but adapted specifically for the track, so it is not street legal. The vehicle is equipped with the MC20’s Nettuno 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine placed in the middle, enhanced with new turbos to deliver 740 horsepower, surpassing the street version’s 621 hp output. Maserati aims for a weight below 1,250 kg (2,756 pounds), significantly lighter than the MC20’s 3,306-pound curb weight. No official release date has been announced.

The power is channeled to the rear axle through a six-speed paddle-shift sequential racing gearbox. The vehicle’s all-new carbon fiber bodywork encompasses a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, complete with adjustable front and rear wings, Lexan windows, and distinctive design elements like a significant carbon sharkfin inspired by the Lambo Huracan STO, high-mounted dual exhaust outlets, blue wheels with neon green sidewalls, Italian flag emblems on the mirror caps, and imposing “NO STEP” labels on the chin and side skirts.

This is a meticulously crafted and expensively engineered racing machine. Caution: do not underestimate its power.

Behind the 18-inch forged aluminum center-lock wheels shod with racing slicks are carbon ceramic Brembo brakes featuring racing calipers and specialized cooling systems. The vehicle comes with adjustable racing dampers, as well as front and rear anti-roll bars.

Observe how the prominent Maserati emblem on the front aligns elegantly with the front splitter’s shape from above. These intricate details set it apart from commonplace hot hatchbacks.

Featuring a pair of racing seats with six-point harnesses, the Project24 can opt for a passenger seat, although it’s just as well to keep it light. It also boasts FIA-compliant safety gear such as an FT3 120-liter fuel tank, fire extinguisher, rain light, and roll cage.

As expected from this exclusive model, owners will receive “track-specific experiences and top-notch assistance” from Maserati.

Since Maserati is still keeping it under a codename and has only released sketches so far, it appears that Project24 is in the early stages of development. Therefore, specific details like release date and pricing remain undisclosed. However, if you have to inquire about the cost…well, you probably have an idea.
