Facebook User Attempts to Sell Wrecked 2014 Dodge Challenger
In an unusual display of self-awareness on social media, a Facebook user promptly listed their wrecked 2014 Dodge Challenger on Facebook Marketplace shortly after crashing it on a slick highway. As the country music legend Kenny Rogers once sang, there’s a time to hold on and a time to let go.
Located roughly 20 miles west of Atlanta, the 10-year-old Challenger has racked up 150,000 miles, has no outstanding payments—a given for a vehicle of this age—and comes with a clear title. However, the attention-grabbing aspect of the listing lies in the photos.
The available images suggest they were taken immediately following the accident, possibly for insurance documentation. The listing appeared yesterday, with the seller eager to find a buyer swiftly.
Specifics about what caused the crash remain unclear. Nonetheless, it’s no secret that Dodge Challengers and Chargers have a reputation online for reckless driving, rivaling that of the Mustang.
The first picture showcases the Challenger from a front three-quarter angle and is quite striking. The car sits awkwardly, blocking both the shoulder and an adjacent lane. Behind it, the highway’s metal guardrail appears damaged, and the grass nearby has been disturbed. Fortunately, there are no signs of casualties, leading us to hope that any injuries, if they occurred, were limited to the grass.
Interestingly, a dark-colored compact vehicle—possibly with a hood scoop—can also be seen further back on the shoulder. Its connection to the incident is uncertain: it could be related to the crash, a friend assisting the stranded driver, or simply an Uber Eats delivery driver.
The seller states confidently, “Engine still intact. Selling as is!” However, given the vehicle’s significant front-end damage, skepticism about the condition of its 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine is warranted.
In the third image, something peculiar can be seen behind the vehicle’s left rear tire. It’s uncertain whether it belongs to the Challenger, another vehicle, or if it is just debris from the road. Additionally, the left rear panel is visibly crumpled, resembling a crinkled piece of paper.
If the car had been in top-notch condition, Kelley Blue Book estimates its average trade-in value at around $10,000. In fair condition, which would require some repairs, that value drops to about $6,300. Given the extensive damage this Challenger has suffered, it’s clear that it needs significant mechanical work, and KBB does not provide values for vehicles in poor condition. A figure around $3,000 might be reasonable.
