Ahead of the official unveiling tomorrow, sneak peek images of the upcoming 2021 Maserati MC20 mid-engine supercar have surfaced. The car boasts unique upward-opening doors, carbon fiber accents, and a distinct trident design in the rear window vents.
Featuring a blend of classic supercar aesthetics with modern twists, the MC20 manages to strike a perfect balance between flamboyance and sophistication, preserving the essence of a wild twin-turbo Maserati.
Although the exterior design may appear to be a fusion of existing supercar elements, the real excitement lies in the advanced technology housed within the MC20. Equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 “Nettuno” engine derived from FCA’s racing expertise, featuring innovative components like a dry sump and an F1-style dual-spark-plug pre-chamber combustion system.
Expected to deliver a powerful output of 621 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque, the MC20 also promises a delightful engine soundtrack, akin to its Italian V6 predecessors.
Rumors suggest that a more potent hybrid variant of the V6 drivetrain might be offered, aligning with Maserati’s electrification strategy, but official confirmation is awaited at tomorrow’s unveiling of the MC20.
The interior of the leaked MC20 photos exudes a no-nonsense, business-oriented vibe, coupled with McLaren-esque drive mode selection buttons on the central console. Complemented by well-contoured seats with stylish blue detailing and a compact steering wheel for easy handling. The somewhat retrofitted infotainment screen on the dashboard may seem like an afterthought, however, let’s face it – navigation controls are likely not the primary reason for purchasing a mid-engine Maserati.
