A compact cruise line by the name of Windstar Cruises has unveiled its intentions today to incorporate its newest vessel, Star Pursuer, into voyages across Alaska and Japan upon joining the flotilla in 2026. In 2023, Windstar last navigated the Alaskan and Japanese waters before reassigning Star Breeze to serve as the perpetual ship in Tahiti.
“We are thrilled to reintroduce Alaska and Japan to our travelers,” shared Windstar’s Chief Executive Christopher Prelog. “We acknowledge the popularity of these destinations, with numerous requests for their revisit. We can no longer keep this exciting news under wraps.”
During May to August, Star Pursuer will cruise in Alaska with itineraries spanning 7, 10, and 11-day journeys between Juneau, or Seward, Alaska and Vancouver, B.C. Guests can also avail pre- and post-cruise land expeditions to Denali. Following the Alaska season in late August, Star Pursuer will set sail for Japan embarking on the esteemed 10-day Grand Japan cruises between Tokyo and Osaka. The vessel will remain in Japan until November.
It is projected that Windstar will make Star Pursuer’s fresh deployment information, encompassing Alaska and Japan, accessible for booking by early August 2024.
For its Alaskan voyages, Windstar is enlisting expedition leaders on board to head its Signature Expeditions, mirroring previous Alaskan operations. To explore secluded wilderness regions like Misty Fjords, guests have the opportunity to arrange hiking, kayaking, and skiff expeditions through the vessel, indulging in close encounters in small groups guided by an expert who offers insights during the escapade. Aside from this, the expedition leaders will conduct presentations on board, amplifying Alaska’s rich history, culture, and wildlife.
“These immersive, intimate excursions play a pivotal role in our Alaskan program, providing our travelers a deeper connection with the allure of Alaska,” explained Prelog. “Observing the terrain from the vantage point of the water imparts the grandeur of Alaska. The tranquility of these wild areas offers a meditative experience. You never know what splendid wildlife sightings await.”
Back in April, Windstar disclosed its plans to incorporate two novel vessels – Star Pursuer and Star Explorer – to its collection of boutique yachts. Each ship will house 112 suites, catering to 224 guests, and will bear resemblances to the current Star Class motor yachts within the line. Star Pursuer will be delivered to Windstar in December 2025, followed by Star Explorer in December 2026.
