Jetour SUVs launched in South Africa – 1.5T petrol engines; Dashing from RM106k, X70 Plus from RM110k

Jetour, a Chinese automotive manufacturer, has introduced its Dashing and X70 Plus SUVs to the South African market, featuring models designed for five and seven passengers. These vehicles were first previewed in Malaysia in May and are expected to launch there later this year.

“Our focus on the South African market has been ongoing for some time. By the end of this year, we plan to set up 40 sales outlets with an initial sales target of 2,000 units. Over the next three years, we aim for a cumulative sales total of 20,000 units,” stated Ke Chuandeng, Vice President of Jetour Auto.

In South Africa, the Dashing comes in two variants: the Momentum, priced at 439,900 rand (approximately RM106,332), and the Deluxe, available for 469,900 rand (about RM113,583). The X70 Plus, a seven-seater in the D-segment, is also available in two versions – the 1.5T Momentum priced at 454,900 rand (about RM109,939) and the 1.5T Deluxe at 484,900 rand (approximately RM117,190).

For the Malaysian market, both the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus will be available in two variants: the Prime and Signature. Each model is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 156 PS at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque, which is accessible between 1,750 to 4,000 rpm.

The vehicles feature a six-speed wet dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. In terms of dimensions, the Dashing measures 4,590 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. On the other hand, the X70 Plus stretches 4,724 mm long, has the same width, and is 1,720 mm tall, also with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

The Prime variant of the Dashing available for Malaysia is well-equipped with features such as LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, a powered tailgate, keyless entry and start, remote engine start, leather seat coverings, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 50W wireless charging pad, four speakers, and air conditioning with rear vents and a CN95 air filter.

The Dashing offers several safety features, including passive cruise control, a reversing camera, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, overspeed warnings, and four reverse sensors.

Upgrading to the Signature variant adds features such as a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, ambient lighting, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, lane change warnings, rear cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera system.

For the X70 Plus, the base Prime model includes automatic LED headlights, red exterior accents, roof rails, and 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The standard safety features for the seven-seater begin with four airbags and autonomous emergency braking, while the Signature variant includes additional curtain airbags (totaling six), blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert, and door opening warnings.

The interior features dual 10.25-inch displays along with a separate, slimmer screen for climate control. Standard offerings include keyless entry, push-button start, paddle shifters, cruise control, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 50-watt Qi wireless charger, four speakers, a 360-degree camera system, and a powered tailgate.

The Signature X70 Plus adds a panoramic glass sunroof, driver-side seat memory functions, and metal pedals. A Jetour representative has indicated that, due to the X70 Plus sharing its name with a well-known national SUV, it may be renamed for the Malaysian market.

As of now, prices for the Dashing and X70 Plus in Malaysia have not been disclosed, and it remains uncertain even if estimates will be provided. The official launch of these Chinese SUVs is anticipated later this year, and both will be locally assembled (CKD) models.
