The debut of the all-new FIA Formula E Gen-2 race car is fast approaching, as it prepares to compete in season five of the electric racing series (2018-2019). Jaguar has unveiled an impressive livery for the vehicle, showcasing its commitment to innovation and style.
In line with its reputation for designing luxurious road cars, Jaguar has crafted a futuristic and dynamic look for the Gen-2 racer, which features a sleek carbon fiber body. This new model not only boasts an eye-catching design but also enhanced performance capabilities, including increased power and a longer range that eliminates the need for mid-race car swaps.
The Gen-2 race car’s total output has been boosted to 250 kW, which translates to approximately 335 horsepower. However, during the race, drivers will have access to a maximum of 200 kW. Under FIA regulations, the full power will be available only during qualifying sessions, but competitors will still benefit from the unique FanBoost feature.
With its first competitive outing set for later this year, Jaguar, along with other teams in Formula E, is in the midst of rigorous testing and development. Notably, former Formula E champion Nelson Piquet had the opportunity to test the Jaguar I-TYPE 3 development car in Spain during a recent closed event.
“I had the chance to drive the Jaguar I-TYPE 3 development car in a closed test event last month,” Piquet commented. “It was a significant moment for the team, the championship, and for electric vehicles. The car showed a promising and reliable start, but there is still much development needed before we begin racing at the end of this year.”
The seventh race of the Formula E season will commence with the inaugural Rome E-Prix on April 17..
