Jaguar Developing New F-Type GT Race Car for GT4 European Series

Attention, GT racing teams—Jaguar is actively working on a new F-Type GT race car aimed at competing in the GT4 European Series, as reported by Autosport.

The initiative is reportedly being spearheaded by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division, renowned for creating remarkable vehicles such as the F-Type Project 7 and the Range Rover SVAutobiography.

To oversee the F-Type GT4 project, Jaguar has reportedly enlisted Graham Humphrys, known for his design of the successful BMW V12 LMR, a Le Mans prototype that triumphed in 1999, and for his recent contributions to the Aston Martin mid-engined Valkyrie hypercar.

Notably, this project seems to be financed by an external source rather than coming from Jaguar’s internal budget. The funding for the F-Type GT4 race car is said to come from James Holder, co-founder of Superdry. Holder, who began racing in the GT4 class last year with an Aston Martin Vantage GT4, has both experience and financial backing, with an estimated net worth of around $200 million.

Jaguar Land Rover has not officially confirmed or denied this development to Autosport. A representative mentioned, “Details of [special projects] remain confidential between the customer and Jaguar.”

Recently, Jaguar’s activities in racing have been primarily centered on its participation in the all-electric racing series Formula E, which the company claims it uses to test and advance technology for future electric vehicles. However, this focus is not expected to interfere with the efforts behind the F-Type GT4 project.
