When it comes to the mainstream market, Buick emerges as the most trustworthy car brand after three years of ownership, while Lexus stands out as the top choice among all brands, according to insights from J.D. Power.
Lexus by Toyota has maintained its position as the most reliable brand for the seventh consecutive year, with Porsche following closely behind, as indicated by the latest findings released on Wednesday.
In the 2018 study that assessed vehicles from the 2015 model year, dependability was measured by the number of reported issues for every 100 vehicles.
Buick claimed the top spot in the mainstream segment with 116 reported problems per 100 vehicles, showing an improvement of 10 from the previous year. This marks the third victory for Buick in the mainstream category over the past four years.
After being among the lowest performers in 2017, Infiniti jumped to the fourth position with 83 fewer reported issues per 100 vehicles. Kia secured the fifth spot, marking its best performance in the yearly ranking.
The automotive industry as a whole yielded improved results for the first time since 2013, showing a 9 percent enhancement in 2018 compared to the previous year, according to J.D. Power.
This widespread improvement underscores the advancement in quality, with dependability now showing positive trends,” expressed David Amodeo, senior manager of global automotive at J.D. Power, in an interview with The Drive. “I vividly remember the days of witnessing cars stranded on the roadside, where calling AAA or seeking roadside assistance was a common recourse.”
